I have a great friend and powerful woman of God who began a ministry called Brave Moms. Several years ago, I joined this group at church and on one of our first groups we were asked to write a letter to a new mother offering some guidance. This is the letter I wrote. Afterwards, we were told that this was actually for us to keep. I’m sharing it with you because it still gives me encouragement. Perhaps you will find something in it for you too.
Dear Wonderful Mother,
You have no idea how important you are. Your task is the most critical in the world to all of society. Please don’t think of your everyday tasks as menial or pointless. Your children love you and look to you for love, validation, strength, and wisdom daily. They are paying attention to the attitude you display as you carry out your daily work.
You are not alone even when you feel that you are. Seek out others who are in your stage of life, a stage ahead, and a stage behind. You need this community. Motherhood is like being a banker. You are to take care of God’s children – they are His. Be diligent.
You will not love every minute of motherhood and that’s okay. That doesn’t mean you’re a bad mother. But know that Satan will attack you because he knows how important your task is too. Be prepared to deflect his attacks with the Word of God.
